The unique technology was specifically designed for the capture, documentation and visualization of the ocular fundus. A single sensor takes over all functions for infrared observation, fundus color photography and digitally filtered images without red components and cobalt filter. The latest LED technology combined with the high sensitivity of the digital camera sensor ensures increased patient comfort. White LEDs have replaced the strobe tubes in the new auto exposure flash, reducing the likelihood of having an afterimage. This in turn increases the reliability and leads to faster investigations, since the repetition of recordings with incorrect flash exposure is eliminated. The Canon CR-2's advanced digital filter technology enables images that are comparable in quality to those produced with optical filters. Another feature that leads to faster exams and less patient discomfort is the new Anterior Photography mode. This new mode uses an additional compensation lens that makes taking anterior chamber views quick and easy. The Canon CR-2 comes with the latest version of Retinal Imaging Control Software Suite (RCIS), which supports Windows 7 and export data. Collecting, editing, archiving and referencing data is simplified. RGB images or line drawings of current CDR values can easily be saved along with details such as patient name, patient ID, accession number, right / left eye, photographic mode and date of examination.
